Welcome back and a warm welcome to everyone across the world.
One of the wonderful things that I can see from my website www.isisblessings.com is the number of people who visit and where they come from. Since beginning this blog more than 2000 people have viewed it and since its inception in 2010 over 12,000 have visited isisblessings.
I can not take all the credit for this blog as without Dr Morad we would not have been blessed with so much knowledge and wonder.
As I previousley mentioned, the reason for doing the blog was to share My Sacred Journey to Egypt in 2009 with those who are not able to visit or have been and enjoy going back via this form.
So thank you to all that continue to visit from Australia, America, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Germany, France, Japan, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Israel, India, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Malaysia, Netherlands, Phillippines, Russian Federation, Romanai, United Kingdom and Ukraine.
I hope I haven't missed anyone!
Today we visit the Temple of Kom Ombo, a double Temple with one side dedicated to the God Haroesis and the other side to the God Sobek.
It is written that the design is almost perfectly symmetrical with two side - by -side sanctuaries and parallel passage ways leading through the outer parts of the Temple.

Dr Morad is with us once again to take us on a journey of discovery through this unusal but beautiful Temple....... The Temple was built by the river and this area of the Nile is having a bug u turn....it slows down the current of the river.
When it slows down fish lay eggs and then the area is full of fish...then the fisherman came to fish here and they caught a lot of fish.
But also the crocodiles found they are full of fish to eat....they found the fisherman more delicous than the fish...they left the
fish then ate the fisherman.
Then who was controlling that crocodile from stopping doing harm....Sobek.
So they built the Temple of Sobek and they give him the daily service we talked about. Sobek will be satisfied and will order the crocodiles not to do harm.
This is the idea of having local Gods everywhere....we have big Gods like Ra, like Horus, like Isis and also we have local Gods like the Cat in the north for example....like Hathor in some places...like Sobek...like the Scoporpian Goddess in some other places.
Then this is the idea...then Sobek was shipped here and as you notice now it is like people don't feel comfortable to worship that God but they need need to worship that God to stop the crocodiles.
Then they made the Temple of two Gods instead of one.
Horus the beloved one and his enermy actually...Sobek or Seth.
In the centre they could keep the yin and yang...balance the area.
The Temple is for both of them... for Horus and Sobek together and this is something unique in Egyptian Temple. To have a Temple for two Gods is not common...but in this place to keep the equilibrium between the two forces...the white and the black or yin and yang or whatever you call it as it is..actually it keeps the balance.
When we go inside this area it is called the Holly of Hollies with two rooms representing the two Gods Sobek here and Horus there(see sanctuaries on left & right and stairways on map).
If you look around you there is a room here and a room there and a passage between them.
But this passsage was hidden by one wall in the back.
Nobody could see this passage ...and this is the corridor around the Holly of Hollies...everything was built around it...you go down and crawl back into this room...a crypt......can you hear my voice is amplified.
The priest would come through the door..go down in the hidden area...then the priest was hidden and then when the King was asking for Oracles and Prophecy, the answer coming from here...meant someone washiding here and no one knew where the voice was coming from.
Let us move outside to see where the crocodiles were kept .....
The pool was filled with water for the crocodile who was kept for the God... the pool had to have something to open and close for the water to come in... to fill the pool... it was coming from a well... then they had buckets filling the pool for the crocodiles. From where the water was coming this was connected to the Nile and the water was coming from right here....if the water rise here by these steps they were counting every month and everyday and they measure the Nile.
The taxation system was delivered according to the Nile....the water is okay the crocodiles will be fine..the tax is like that...the water is less than ususal no taxes this year ....something like that.
Then counting these steps for measuring and the priests is going down from this entrance actually...look there...there is a door and we used to take the people down but some slipped and they close it. Nobody going down anymore.
This is what is known as the Nilometer.
The well was used for purification, cleaning the Temple, cooking what ever.
Below more images taken around the Temple.
